Stephan (Steve) Jon Rich

Lyme, N.H. — Stephan (Steve) Jon Rich, known by friends and family as Steve, passed away from medical complications on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

Steve was born in Gardner, Mass. on Jan. 21, 1944, son of Everett Bradbury Rich and Verna Simmons Rich. Steve was raised in Lyme where he lived his entire life. He attended Lyme Schools and graduated from Thetford Academy in 1962. He married Lynn Maria Harding and they have one child, Justin Manuel Rich.

Steve loved visiting friends and neighbors and in his later years he enjoyed spending time in his garden and keeping bees. Steve took an active part in the local loon conservation, and in raising butterflies. Steve loved the outdoors. He was an accomplished skier and served on the Dartmouth Ski patrol.

Steve was a long-time member of the Lyme Fire Department. He worked at Dartmouth Printing for nearly two decades, into retirement Steve stayed busy with auto detailing and bee keeping.

Left to honor and celebrate Steve are his mother Verna, his son Justin and daughter-in-law Rachael, their children Lily & Mason; his brother Brian and sister-in-law Jodie, nephews Aaron, his wife Patience, and Tyler, his wife Jamie and great nieces and nephews, Jada, Evan, Reed, Alexis, Kaydence and Hunter. He was preceded in death by his father Everett.

Steve will be greatly missed. We will remember him fondly for his sense of humor and willingness to help others. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the caring team of doctors and nurses at DHMC for their excellent care and support.

A service will be held at the Lyme Center Baptist Church on Saturday, Sept. 29 at noon.
