White River Junction — A 43-year-old Randolph woman has been charged with attempting to lure a boy who was known to her.

Erica Gillette pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on Tuesday to felonious attempted luring-sexual exploitation and to a misdemeanor charge that alleges she contributed to the delinquency of a minor. She was released on conditions.

Police say Gillette had inappropriate contact with the boy via text messages throughout the month of August, according to a Vermont State Police affidavit written by Sgt. Matthew Sweitzer.

Some of the text messages between Gillette and the boy, who was between the age of 13 and 15, were “sexually explicit” in nature, the affidavit indicates. The boy’s parents alerted police to the situation.

Gillette allegedly told police that the conversations she had with the boy were wrong, according to the affidavit.

A State Police news release issued after the alleged incident states that Gillette was living in Bethel at the time. The boy is from another town in the Upper Valley.

A message left for her public defender, Rachel Thompson, wasn’t returned.

Gillette’s next court hearing is scheduled for June 26.
