Flue season in East Randolph

  • Riley Brown, of the East Randolph Fire Department, waits to shovel out a chimney as a fellow firefighter cleans it from a ladder truck above at the home of Martin Bascom in East Randolph, Vt., Monday, Oct. 12, 2020. Fire Chief Kevin Taylor said they scheduled about ten cleanings this fall, a declining number as chimney linings improve and fewer people heat with wood. “It used to cut down on fire calls quite a bit during the season if we did this ahead of time,” he said.
