Passenger dies in Weathersfield crash

WEATHERSFIELD — A passenger died from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle crash at the bottom of the exit ramp off Interstate 91 in Weathersfield on Thursday, according to police.

The identity or other information about the passenger was not immediately released.

A vehicle traveling southbound on the I-91 exit ramp at the intersection with Vermont Route 131 failed to yield the right of way and struck another vehicle traveling westbound, Weathersfield Police said in a news release. 

The passenger of the southbound vehicle was first transported to Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor and subsequently to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, where they succumbed to injuries and died, police said.

The operator of southbound vehicle was taken to DHMC for treatment and evaluation of injuries. 

The driver and passenger in the westbound vehicle were not injured, police said.

Weathersfield police did not immediately respond to request for more information.
