LEBANON — Due to construction delays, the opening of the city’s emergency shelter has been pushed back a couple of weeks.

Director of Human Services Lynne Goodwin said the winter shelter at 160 Mechanic Street will open the week of Jan. 22. The remodel of the building began Dec. 6 to create space for 12 shelter beds, two bathrooms with showers, a common area and an office. The city had originally planned to open the facility this week.

The renovation has taken longer than expected due to delays in the mechanical and electrical work, Goodwin said. The city will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 19 to mark the project’s completion.
