HANOVER — A 189-year-old home was added to the New Hampshire Register of Historic Places this week.

Built circa 1835, the Rogers-Pressey House on Goose Pond Road was one of eight properties in the state to be named to New Hampshire Register of Historic Places. The properties on the register either have a connection to a significant event or person, or represent a preserved example of local architecture, engineering or construction method.

“The Rogers-Pressey House in Hanover is architecturally significant both as a Greek Revival cape and as a rare example of a plank-constructed house in the Connecticut River Valley,” the state Division of Historical Resources said in a press release.

The one and a half story home was built as a square-ruled timber frame. The house is finished with wooden clapboards and simple corner and rake boards. A screen porch was added in the early 20th century, the release stated.

The Rogers-Pressey House occupies a .9-acre parcel of land and the property has an assessed value of $134,400, according to the town’s 2023 assessment.

The property owners, who purchased the home in 2017, could not be reached for comment.
