Local roundup: Big third quarter leads Windsor boys basketball past Springfield

WINDSOR — Maison Fortin scored 22 of his game high 28 points in the second half and Corey Lockwood hit six 3-pointers for 20 points to lead the Windsor High boys basketball team to a 59-52 win over visiting Springfield on Thursday.

The Yellowjackets trailed by three, 25-22, at the half but outscored the Cosmos 21-12 in a dominant third quarter en route to the win.

“Shots started to fall in second half,” Windsor coach Larry Dougher said. "Corey gave us a lift in the third quarter offensively, while Travis McAllister did a great job on their big guy all night."

The Yellowjackets (6-10) are home against Hartford on Monday.

CHESTER, Vt. — The Raptors moved to 9-4 and welcome Twin Valley coming to Orford on Monday.

Mascoma 68, Berlin 35

BERLIN, N.H. — The Royals cruised past the Mountaineers for their eighth straight win. Mascoma (13-3) concludes the regular season at home against White Mountains on Friday.

SOUTH ROYALTON — The Wildcats improved to 12-4 behind 17 points from senior Ella Perrault and a career-high 15 from freshman Olivia Tuller, with junior Tanner Drury chipping in 12.

Rivendell (1-15) is home against West Rutland on Saturday, while WRV travels to Bellows Falls, also on Saturday.

Mascoma 43, Berlin 29

WEST CANAAN — The Royals held a three-point lead at the break, then outscored the Mountaineers 12-4 in the third quarter.

Mascoma's Leah Larocque led all scorers with 13 points, followed by Emily Seiler with nine.

Mascoma (4-11) completes its regular season Friday at White Mountains.

U-32 47, Hartford 39

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A slow start doomed the Hurricanes in an upset loss to the 3-13 Raiders.

Hartford battled back in the third quarter to get within five after being down by 17 at halftime, but U-32 held on in the fourth quarter.

Charlotte Jasmin led Hartford with 16 points and Kamryn Brower had 11.

The Hurricanes (10-8) are at Windsor on Tuesday.

Thetford 72 Randolph 25

RANDOLPH, Vt. — Addie Cadwell led the Panthers with 15 points, followed by Kelsey Bogie with 13 and Madi Mousley with 12.

Ella Messier had 13 points for Randolph.

Thetford (14-4) is at Lake Region on Tuesday.

Spaulding 63, Oxbow 42

BARRE, Vt. — The Olympians fell to 10-8 with the road loss. Emerson Fuller led Oxbow with 18 points, and Maggi Ellsworth added 11. The O’s will welcome Peoples on Tuesday.
