Local roundup: Lebanon baseball drops nail-biter to Bow

LEBANON — After enduring early deficits of three and five runs, the Lebanon High baseball team rallied to take a one-run lead lead after six innings Wednesday against visiting Bow. The Falcons, however, scored three times on plays at the plate during the NHIAA Division II contest’s seventh frame and defeated the Raiders, 10-8.

Lebanon starting pitcher Zach Aldrich allowed five hits and five runs, three of them earned, during 2 1/3 innings. He struck out one Falcon and walked six. Nick Brill allowed one hit and two runs, both earned, during 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Brill, who struck out two batters and walked two, was followed by Bennett Hewett for the final three innings. Hewett allowed four hits and three runs, all earned, while striking out two foes and walking two. 

The Raiders stranded 11 runners, three of them on a strikeout to end the fourth inning. Lebanon’s three batters during the seventh popped out, grounded out and struck out. Bow (3-2) left 13 runners on base and used four pitchers.

The Raiders (2-2), who received two hits and two RBIs from Aldrich and two hits and five stolen bases from Brill, saw the last three slots in their order go a collective 0 for 6. Lebanon visits Hanover (4-0) on Friday.

LEBANON — Aylah Salls’ double was the Raiders’ lone hit as they fell to 1-3. Bow is 4-2.

Ava Kaercher allowed 15 hits while striking out eight Falcons and walking four. Lebanon visits arch-rival Hanover (0-3) on Friday.

HANOVER — The Bears and Astros completed the match that they had started last Friday and was suspended due to darkness.

Hanover's singles victories came from Mackenzie Liu (8-1 at No. 2), Sophia Costa (8-3 at No. 3), Campbell White (9-7 at No. 5) and Shayna Rockmore (8-6 at No. 6). Liu and Noura St. Hilaire earned an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, and the No. 3 doubles pairing of White and Hailey Pastel won 8-6.

The Bears (3-1) are at Nashua South on Monday.

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. — The Hurricanes fell to the Hilltoppers, dropping to 0-3. Hartford is at Mount Anthony on Saturday.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hurricanes fell to 1-2 with the loss and will host Mount St. Joseph on Friday.
