LEBANON — The Lebanon High boys tennis team recorded six of its eight wins by shutout in Wednesday’s 8-1 victory over visiting Kennett.

Nolan Arado (No. 1 singles), Will Katz (No. 2 singles), Kyle Hines (No. 3 singles) and Finn Ericson (No. 4 singles) all won their matches without dropping a game, as did Arado and Katz at No. 1 doubles and Ericson and Lindsey Church-Cole at No. 3 doubles.

Baden Schifferdecker won his match 8-1 at No. 5 singles, and he and Hines claimed an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. Church-Cole, at No. 6 singles, lost his match 8-4.

The Raiders improved to 3-0 and is back in action Thursday at Kingswood.

Hanover 9, Londonderry 0

HANOVER — The Bears dominated across the board in a shutout over the Lancers. Hanover’s singles wins came from Sam Ames (8-1 at No. 1), Nick Pais (8-4 at No. 2), Zach Pearson (8-1 at No. 3), Ryder Wilson (8-0 at No. 4), Henry Werner (8-0 at No. 5) and Alex Orsino (8-2 at No. 6).

Ames and Orsino recorded an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, and Pais and Pearson won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 pairing of Ian Holmes and Ming Liu won in a tiebreak.

Hanover (2-1) is at Pinkerton on Friday.

Rutland 7, Hartford 0

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hurricanes fell in their season opener, failing to take a set. Sebastian Fraser, at No. 1 singles, and Rowan Irvine, at No. 3, came closest, each winning four games over their two sets.

"Conditions were blustery and the boys played hard against a very talented Rutland team," Hartford coach Kate Godec said.

The Canes (0-1) travel to Mount Anthony on Saturday.

GIRLS TENNISHanover 8, Londonderry 1

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — The Bears dropped no more than a single game in each of their eight wins, with Sophia Costa (No. 3 singles) and Campbell White (No. 6 singles) winning by shutout. Rachel Rockmore (No. 1), Mackenzie Liu (No. 2) and Nora St. Hilaire (No. 4) all recorded 8-1 victories, and Hanover swept the doubles matches as well.

The Bears (2-1) welcome Pinkerton for their home opener Friday.

BASEBALLHanover 8, John Stark 3

NORWICH — The Bears won their second straight game to open the season, led by a four-hit day from Jackson McBride.

McBride doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice. Hayden Avard hit a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie, and Hanover also got two hits each from Sam Sacerdote and Jack McGrath.

Allie Muirhead allowed one run on three hits over a three-inning start. Freddie Mierke gave up a lone unearned tally over his 2 ⅔ innings of work, and Alex Boone closed it out by giving up one run in an inning and a third.

The Bears (2-0) host Pelham on Friday.

Stevens 14, Kearsarge 4

NORTH SUTTON, N.H. — The Cardinals evened their record at 2-2 with Wednesday's win over the Cougars. Stevens is at Conant on April 27.

Bishop Brady 21, Mascoma 0

WEST CANAAN — The Royals fell to 0-2 with the loss. Mascoma is at Kearsarge on Thursday.

SOFTBALLSt. Johnsbury 16, Hartford 4

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — BeccaKeelty, Madison Willey and Madylyn Matheson had two hits apiece for the Hurricanes in the loss to the Hilltoppers. Marina Grassi pitched five innings, striking out four.

"We knew this would be a tough game, as we've been (run-ruled) by this team the last two years, and we made some errors that were very unlike us," Hartford coach Danielle Tenney said. "We definitely saw some good things happen and improvements from those two years prior. But we plan on cleaning up those errors and moving forward with a great season."

The Hurricanes (1-1) are at U-32 on April 27.

ConVal 20, Lebanon 0

LEBANON — The Cougars' Lily Mandel, a Keene State College commit, no-hit the Raiders as ConVal won big.

Lebanon (0-2) hosts Souhegan on Friday.

WEST CANAAN — The Royals dropped to 0-2 and will host White Mountains on Thursday.

BOYS LACROSSELaconia 9, Lebanon 7

LACONIA, N.H. — Otto Bourne's five goals were not enough to lead the Raiders to a victory Wednesday.

Abe Pearson and Benji Madori also scored for Lebanon, and Madori and VJ Sites each had an assist. James Barnett made 12 saves.

"It was a hard-fought game against the defending state champs," Raiders coach Cole Flannery said. "Despite playing hard until the end, inexperience, low numbers and turnovers killed us."

Lebanon (1-2) takes on Coe-Brown in its home opener on Friday.

GIRLS LACROSSEHartford 10, U-32 8

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Addie Cadwell had five goals and two assists as the Hurricanes improved to 5-0 with a win in their home opener. Audrey Rupp added three goals and an assist, and Madi Barwood chipped in with two goals.

Hartford hosts Lamoille on Saturday.

Coe-Brown 10, Lebanon 8

NORTHWOOD, N.H. — Maddie Jewell led the Raiders with four goals and three assists in the losing effort.

Hadley Rich added two goals for Lebanon, Delaney Deshane had a goal and an assist and Abby Auch also scored. Drew Kantor made 12 saves.

The Raiders (0-2) are right back in action Thursday at Kearsarge.
