WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Zach Johnson came out on the winning end of a pitchers’ duel for the Hartford High baseball team against visiting Bellows Falls on Friday night.

Johnson went all seven innings, striking out seven against zero walks while allowing just two hits to earn the 2-0 win for the Hurricanes. Losing pitcher Jamison Nystrom was nearly as good for the Terriers, allowing just six hits over six innings.

Both Hartford runs came in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run double by sophomore Solly Flores. Flores was 2-for-3 while providing those two runs in support of Johnson and a reliable Hartford defense.

“Zach was the best he’s been so far this year, and we needed every bit of it,” Hartford coach Bill Vielleux said. “Nystrom is as good as we have faced. It was a classic pitchers’ duel. It’s a great win against a very good team.”

Hartford moves to 7-2 with the win, the Canes’ third straight. Up next is a good rivalry matchup at Windsor on Monday.

Hanover 11, Coe-Brown 4

NORWICH — Sam Sacerdote turned in an efficient four innings on the bump and collected a pair of RBIs to spark the Bears (11-0), who concluded a run of six games in eight days.

Sacerdote needed just 57 pitches, 45 of them strikes, to get through the first four frames, striking out nine while allowing just two hits and one run. Sacerdote added a pair of hits to drive in two runs.

Oliver Sperry finished 3-for-4, including a two-out RBI single in the Bears’ four-run first inning. Jojo Drent and Wyatt Daigle also had RBI hits in the first. Jake Toulmin added a two-run triple in the three-run fourth inning for Hanover.

Hollis-Brookline 4, Lebanon 0

LEBANON — The Raiders (5-6) fell to the defending NHIAA Division II champions during their fourth game in five days. Lebanon finished that stretch with a combined 19 errors but committed only two against the Cavaliers (9-3).

Spencer Cunningham had two of the hosts’ hits. Starting pitcher Zach Aldrich allowed six hits and four runs, three of them earned. The junior struck out six foes and walked none during his 5⅓ innings. Reliever Bennett Hewett surrendered two hits and no runs while striking out one and walking two.

Lebanon closes the regular season with five games in 10 days, the first at ConVal (1-10) on Monday.

Hanover visits Plymouth on Monday.

Stevens 12, Conant 4

CLAREMONT — The Cardinals won their fourth game in their last five contests, improving to 6-5. Stevens is at Newfound on Monday.

Fall Mountain 11, Newport 3

NEWPORT — The Tigers’ three runs were the most they’ve scored in a game since a season-opening victory at Hopkinton. Newport fell to 1-9 with the loss and host Inter-Lakes on Monday.

Softball Hartford 14, Otter Valley 8

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Becca Keelty led a potent Hurricanes attack with four singles and two RBIs in a comeback win over the Otters.

Hartford scored a run in the fifth inning to tie the game for the first time at 6-6. Otter Valley answered with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth only to see the Canes answer with eight runs in the bottom half of the frame to storm in front for good. The eight-run rally came on nine singles and gave the hosts a nice cushion going into the seventh.

Marina Grassi added three hits and drove in four for Hartford (6-2). Madison Willey had a double and three singles. Serenitee Martel, Faith Brown and Miranda Rogers each had a pair of singles.

“The girls found their groove and grabbed 20 hits this game. They stayed composed through adversity and came together as a team for this huge win,” Hartford coach Danielle Tenney said.

The victory is Hartford’s first against Otter Valley in six years, according to Tenney.

Hartford hosts Burr & Burton on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Hollis Brookline 14, Lebanon 0

LEBANON — Cavaliers junior Kailey Disco threw a perfect game, not allowing any Raiders to reach base and striking out 11 of them. Disco also hit an RBI triple for Hollis Brookline (9-3).

Raiders counterpart Ava Kaercher allowed five hits and six runs, only two of them earned. She struck out eight opponents, pushing her season total to 110, and walked three during five innings of work. Lebanon (2-9), which suffered its fourth shutout, visits ConVal (7-4) on Monday, the first of its three road games next week.

Hillsboro-Deering 27, Mascoma 15

WEST CANAAN — The Royals put up a strong showing offensively but fell to 0-9. Mascoma hosts Fall Mountain on Monday.

Newport 12, Fall Mountain 0

NEWPORT — The Tigers improved to 9-0 and have outscored their opponents by a combined 128-15, including four straight shutouts. Newport hosts Newfound on Monday.

Stevens 5, Conant 3

CLAREMONT — The Cardinals won their second straight game, improving to 3-7.

Stevens hosts Monadnock on Saturday.

Boys Lacrosse Bow 14, Lebanon 5

BOW, N.H. — The Raiders came up short against a tough and deep undefeated Falcons squad, falling to 4-5.

Otto Bourne had four goals and an assist for Lebanon. Luke Engert had a goal. Beni Madory had a pair of assists and VJ Sites had one. Goalie James Barnett made 16 saves.

The Raiders host Gilford on Monday.

Pelham 15, Stevens 1

CLAREMONT — The Cardinals fell to 0-6 and travel to Milford on Monday.

Girls Lacrosse Hartford 18, Rice 5

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hurricanes kept it rolling, improving to 10-0 with the win over Rice.

Addie Cadwell and Madison Barwood each had five goals for Hartford, with Cadwell adding a team-best four assists. Audrey Rupp added four goals. Bella Boeri had a goal and an assist. Braelyn Park scored once. Barwood had two assists and Ella Perreault had one. Shannon Hadlock had two goals and a team-leading seven ground balls.

The Canes are back at it on Saturday at 11 a.m. at home against Lamoille.

Boys Tennis Lebanon 9, Kennett 0

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. — The Raiders shut out the Eagles, improving to 11-1 with the win.

Nolan Arado got things started with an 8-0 win in singles. Baden Schifferdecker added an 8-1 win. Kyle Hines, Finn Ericson and Lucas Graham each won 8-3. Will Katz won the match of the day at No. 2 singles, 8-6.

Arado and Katz added an 8-0 doubles win. Hines/Schifferdecker and Ericson/Graham each won 8-1 in their doubles matches.

The Raiders close the regular season with a pair of home matches next week, against Winnacunnet on Monday and Windham on Thursday.

Girls Tennis Lebanon 5, Kearsarge 4

LEBANON — The Raiders handed the Cougars their first loss since 2021, winning two of three doubles matches to stun the visitors.

Things were tied up at 3-3 after singles play. Lebanon had wins from Hailey Schibuola (9-7), Sophie Longacre (8-5) and Hannah Rich (8-3).

All three doubles matches could’ve gone either way. Schibuola and Longacre trailed 7-4 in their match before rallying for a 9-7 win to secure Lebanon’s fourth win of the afternoon. Aesha Soni and Adaa Karanwal took a similar route at No. 1 doubles, trailing 6-1 at one point before rallying for a 9-7 win of their own for the fifth and deciding win.

Lebanon (7-5) has now won six of its last seven matches and visits Bishop Brady on Monday.

Hanover 9, Manchester Memorial 0

MANCHESTER — The Bears were dominant, improving to 10-1.

Rachel Rockmore, Sophia Costa, Nora St. Hilaire, Emilia Torresani and Shayna Rockmore all won 8-0 in singles. Mackenzie Liu added an 8-1 win.

Rachel Rockmore and Costa led off doubles play with an 8-0 win. Liu/Campbell White and Josie Dennis/Ally Lee also won 8-0.

The Bears will host Dover on Monday.

Track and Field Mascoma records strong finishes at Newport

NEWPORT — The Royals’ girls finished second, and the boys third, in a seven-team meet at Newport on Thursday.

Jenney Lutz was second in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200 meters for the Mascoma girls. Elena Trempe took second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 100-meter hurdles. Georgia Kondi was second in shot put and Emma Colburn was second in the 3,200 meters.

Gunner Currier won both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters for the boys. Trevor Maheu was second in the 3,200 meters.
