WINDSOR — The Windsor High field hockey team opened its season with a 5-1 victory over Rutland on Friday afternoon.

“Everybody came out aggressive, and we maintained that momentum throughout the entire game,” said Windsor coach Blake Wardwell.

Piper Vivian led the attack with two goals. Gianna Felice notched a team-best three assists. Mackenzie Kleefisch had a goal and one assist. Gwen Ambrose and Hannah Tenney also scored. Emma Sauer added an assist.

Goalie Sydney Perry made 11 saves for Windsor, which hosts Bellows Falls on Wednesday.

Hanover 1Kingswood 0 (OT)

WOLFEBORO, N.H. — Twins Greta and Sophia Mancini connected in overtime to help the Bears (2-2-0) win a thriller at Kingswood.

Greta Mancini scored the game-winner at 7:53 in overtime, crediting twin sister Sophia with the assist. This was a defensive battle the whole way, with Bears keeper Guinevere Riordan picking up the shutout win with three saves.

Hanover is back in action on Tuesday at home against Pembroke.

Burr & Burton 3Woodstock 2 (OT)

WOODSTOCK — Hannah Gubbins opened the scoring and Grace Laperle tied the game midway through the fourth quarter to force overtime, but the Bulldogs won the game a minute into the extra session.

LEBANON — Sydney Deshane notched the winner, assisted by Sara Forman, as the Raiders blanked the Cougars.

Freshman goalkeeper Maezie Angles anchored the Raiders’ defense with 12 saves to earn her first varsity shutout.

Lebanon (1-1) hosts Milford on Tuesday.

Oxbow 2, Thetford 0

THETFORD — Ainsley Smith scored and had an assist for the victorious Olympians during the VPA Division III teams’ opener.

Mya Clogston scored in the first half for Oxbow, assisted by Smith. Smith then added an insurance strike in the second half with an unassisted goal.

Thetford visits Blue Mountain on Tuesday. Oxbow hosts Paine Mountain on Wednesday.

Otter Valley 5, Hartford 1

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Mackenzy Carrier scored off a Sylvia Johnson assist for Hartford, two of eight freshmen making their varsity debut for the Hurricanes in a Maxfield Sports Complex loss to the Otters.

“This was a good back-and-forth affair,” said Hartford coach Jeff Acker, who touted the play of goalkeeper Harper Fallon. “The kids got a taste of the pace and intensity of high school soccer and responded well.”

The Canes visit Woodstock on Thursday.

Boys Soccer Lebanon 3, ConVal 1

PETERBOROUGH, N.H. — The Raiders scored each of their goals during the first half and improved to 3-0.

Nick Brill had a goal and an assist, and Myles Nolan and Abe Pearson also tallied. Dom Calandrella and Theo Vassilou had single assists, and Zach Aldrich made two saves for Lebanon.

The Raiders entertain Kingswood on Wednesday.

Bedford 4, Hanover 1

HANOVER — The Bears were blitzed after opening the scoring and fell to 2-1-0.

Hanover goalkeeper Wyatt Seelig made 10 saves, and Carter Guerin scored off a Sean Smith assist.

The Bears visit Keene on Tuesday.

HOLLIS, N.H. — The Bears left no doubt in a season-opening shutout of Hollis-Brookline.

Hanover visits John Stark on Saturday.

WOODSTOCK — The Wasps opened the season with a dominant effort against the visiting Otters at Jim McLaughin Field.

Woodstock (1-0) visits Mill River on Sept. 9.

IL-Moultonborough 27Stevens 20

CLAREMONT — The Cardinals had only four offensive possessions, but Tyler “Tank” Christian scored on three of them during the NHIAA Division III teams’ opener.

Stevens led, 21-20, during the second half and will look to rebound when the return to action on Friday night against visiting Monadnock back at Barnes Park.
