Hanover Officials Clarify Parking Rules During Saturday Football Games

Thursday, September 13, 2018

Hanover — Police have clarified their metered parking rules to indicate that they will enforce parking meter times in the hours leading up to, but not during, Dartmouth’s home football games on Saturdays.

“The majority of the parking areas in Town have a time limit of two hours, much shorter than the length of a football game,” according to a statement posted on the police department’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

For Saturday home games, all meters will be enforced until 1:30 p.m., the start time of the game. There are no changes to parking enforcement for the night time games.

During the Saturday day games, prohibited parking spaces, permit-only parking, and other violations will continue to be enforced (with the exception of permit-only spaces on Hovey Lane and Lebanon Street).

The rules are expected to strike the right balance between encouraging turnover of parking meter spots, and accommodating the thousands who come to the downtown area during the games.
