Edson C. “Dutch” Goodrich, Jr.

Rutland, Vt. — Edson C.  “Dutch” Goodrich, Jr., 94, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3  2018, at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt. He was born in Worcester, Mass., the son of Edson C. and Gladys M. Goodrich, Sr.  He graduated from West Lebanon, N.H. High School, Class of 1941.

Dutch served in the US Navy Air Corps during WWII from April 1943 to March 1946.  He was a member of Squadron VPB – 144 in the South Pacific on Eniwetok Island.  After his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he married Colleen F. Smith in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on April 6, 1946.

For many years he owned and operated E.C. Goodrich and Son Vending Machine business in Rutland, Vt. with his father.  He also owned PAR Products from 1985 to 2009 selling supplies to the automotive industry.

Dutch was a lifetime member of Rutland Lodge #345 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and a member of the Masonic Lodge #79, F&AM.   

 An avid golfer, he was a member of Rutland Country Club for over 60 years.  He enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles, and following his favorite baseball team, the Detroit Tigers.

Dutch is survived by his wife of 71 years, Colleen F. Goodrich; daughter, Sherry E. Connors of Stark, N.H.; son, William E. Goodrich of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Candace A. Goodrich of Stockholm, Sweden, and Erynn E. Connors of Poultney, Vt.; grandson,  Jason A. Goodrich of  Brooklyn, N.Y.; great grandson, Rollin Andrew Goodrich; sister, Betty E. Miller of Clearwater, Fla., and many friends.

In keeping with Dutch’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
