Dartmouth roundup: Volleyball win streak ends with split at Hartford Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The Dartmouth College women’s volleyball team dropped its first match of the season on Friday night as it split its first two contests at the Hartford Invitational.

The Big Green’s season-opening six-match win streak came to an end in the opener against Sacred Heart. Powered by a .438 hitting percentage in the opening set and a .387 rate in the clincher, the Pioneers recorded a 25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 25-12 win. Ellie Blain had a team-high 13 kills for the Big Green.

Dartmouth bounced back in the nightcap against host Hartford, claiming a 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 25-12 decision. Blain again led the Big Green attack with 18 kills, backed by another 15 from Taite Ryan and 11 from Emma Moffet.

The Big Green closes the tournament on Saturday against Central Connecticut State.

Women’s TennisDartmouth at Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Big Green returned to action for the first time since February 2020 on day one of the Brown Invitational.

The Big Green won six singles matches and two doubles matches to open the event. Katie Weber, Elizabeth Fahrmeier, Chloe Yoo and Nicole Conrad all went 2-0, winning at both disciplines. Ashley Hess added a 6-4, 6-4 singles win, and Amelijia Swaffer-Selff won, 6-4, 6-3, in another singles match.

The event continues through Sunday.
