HANOVER — The Dartmouth College women’s rugby team returned to the pitch for the first time in 22 months on Wednesday and routed LIU, 92-5, at Brophy Field in the Sharks’ first varsity contest.

Ten different Big Green players scored tries. Emily Henrich, Lilly Durbin and Margot Genereux all crossed the line twice, and Abbey Savin was near-perfect on conversion kicks, hitting 11 of 12 to go with a penalty kick for a team-high 25 points.

“It was such a joy to see the team back out on the pitch today,” Dartmouth coach Katie Dowty said in a news release. “For so many of our players, it was their first chance to wear the green jersey and, for the rest, it has been nearly two years. This is very much a new-look team, and we are very excited to see where we are at.”

Dartmouth built a 33-0 cushion before the match was halfway through the opening half. Henrich contributed both of her tries to the early onslaught, with Durbin, Sophie Ragg and Sadie Scherr also scoring.

The Big Green is off until visiting Quinnipiac on Sept. 11.
