Charlie, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Charlie and I’m a 1-year-old neutered male Papillon. I came to Lucy Mackenzie all the way from Mississippi. It was a verrrry long ride, but so worth it. I love it here and can't wait to find my own family!

“In my new home, I’d be very happy if I were the only dog. Don’t worry, though — despite my petite size, I’m all the dog you'll need! I’m a playful and active boy, and enjoy human companionship. Cats are a definite maybe, but I might need a little coaching when it comes to them.

“I’ve been working with my new human friends on basic obedience skills and can say that I pick up new skills easily and that I’ve improved a lot! All in all, I’m an easy-going guy that is certainly going to add a lot of love and smiles to my new home. If you’ve been looking for a new canine companion, stop in and meet me today.”

(Charlie is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.)

Chance, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

Chance is a 7-year-old pit bull/retriever mix. He enjoys playing with stuffed toys and snacking on a Kong filled with peanut butter.

Chance is easily excited at first, but also loves to snuggle. He seems to like other dogs and will just need an introduction before going home with one. Chance is still learning basic skills and can be a little inappropriate with small children.

(Chance is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.)

Shawna, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 2-year-old Shawna. I am a sweet, playful, funny girl but I am not doing well in a shelter environment. I do not like other cats so whenever the volunteers here at SCHS try to put me on the adoption floor, I get very upset and lash out.

“So, I am currently occupying my very own room. I love it but the people here say that does not work because I am not out where potential adopters can meet me and get to know my amazing purr-sonality.

“If you are looking to add an only pet to your family, come ask to meet me soon!”

(Shawna is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.)
