Mandy Dube's mental illness began for her with angry and violent behavior at about age 8 and has continued into adulthood. Since the August 2010 closing of Connecticut Valley House, a group home for people with chronic mental health issues in Claremont where Mandy was living, Dube and her family have struggled to find stability and hope for the future.
