Highlights: Rivendell scored a run in the first inning and two more in the fifth inning before West Rutland tied it, 3-3, in the sixth. The Raptors scored two in the bottom of the sixth. Will Knowles (1-1) singled, stole second, moved to third on a perfect sacrifice by Bryson Morgan and scored on a safety squeeze by Mason Fahey. In the top of the seventh inning, Rivendell turned a 5-4-3 double play and Luke Avery made a nice catch close to the fence with a runner on first and two outs.

Highlights: Bow scored two runs in the first inning on a base hit, a throwing error, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly. Hanover tied it in the home first on a Loescher single, a Lobb double and a two-run McBride single. The score remained tied until the fifth inning, when Hanover scored one on another RBI single from McBride after Jojo Drent was sacrificed over to second by Will Hopkins. Hanover added another run in the sixth when Toulmin singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a Ware single with two outs. Boone improved to 2-1 with a complete game, allowing two runs (none earned) and six hits with six strikeouts, and one walk. In the third inning, Bow threatened with one out with a fly ball to right that Lobb caught and threw out the runner trying to tag up and score to end the threat.

Highlights: Brandis (complete-game win, 8 IP 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K); Lundrigan (2-for-4, double, two runs); Ripley (3-for-4, double, 2 RBIs). Bradis threw an eight-inning complete game for the win. Ripley hit the game-winning double that scored two in the top of the eighth inning.

Softball

Bow 9, Hanover 3

Key players: Bow — Madison Oppold (4-for-5); Caly Poitras (3-for-4) Hanover — Malia Pratt (2-for-3); Lily Smith (2-for-3, triple); Evie Maitre (1-for-2)

Highlights: Bow took an early lead scoring runs in the first and second innings to go up 2-0. Hanover battled back scoring two in the bottom of the third inning on singles by Pratt and Kit Tullar and a triple by Lily Smith. Hanover scored again in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Bow offense continued to challenge Hanover, putting runs on the board in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to secure the win over the Bears. Jess Lobb pitched a complete game for Hanover, striking out 11.

Highlights: The Bears had a gritty come-from-behind win in a heavily contested game. Keene jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter, and Hanover fought back with a buzzer-beater to tie the game 3-3 just before halftime. The Bears’ defense tightened its belt, holding the Blackbirds to one goal in the remainder of the game, while the offense broke the 4-4 tie with two goals inside of six minutes remaining in the game.
