WEST WEATHERSFIELD — The fire department responded to a house fire on Reservoir Road over the weekend.

“At the time of the fire the residents had not been living at the property for a time,” West Weathersfield Fire Chief Joshua Dauphin said in a phone interview Monday morning. Dauphin said the residents primarily live in Northern Vermont.

It took about two hours for firefighters from the West Weathersfield, Claremont, Ascutney, Reading, Vt., West Windsor, Windsor, Springfield, Vt., Chester, Vt., Cavendish, Vt., Proctorsville, Vt., and Ludlow, Vt., fire departments to subdue the two-alarm fire, Dauphin said.

No one was injured, but the ranch-style, single-family home was a total loss.

Members of the State Fire Marshal’s office arrived on the scene Sunday to investigate the fire. They ruled the cause of the flames to be undetermined, but Dauphin said the fire “might’ve stemmed from the heating source.”
