Eight Upper Valley high school football players have been selected to play in the 2022 Vermont North/South Senior All-Star Game, which will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday at Norwich University’s Sabine Field in Northfield, Vt.
All local players will represent the South, as the entire Vermont side of the Upper Valley lies in the southern portion of the state.
Hartford, which finished 4-5 and fell to Middlebury in the VPA Division I quarterfinals, will have A.J. Aldrich, Justin Robinson and Connor Tierney.
Division III state champion Windsor, which completed an undefeated season last week with a win over BFA-Fairfax in the title game, will be represented by Maison Fortin, Travis McAllister and Logan Worrall. Worrall rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in the championship game, and Fortin, the quarterback, ran for a score as well.
Woodstock finished 4-5 and lost its first-round playoff game in Division III to Mill River, but featured running back Willie Underwood was a bright spot and will play in the North/South game. In a win over Oxbow on Sept. 16, Underwood carried the Wasps with 24 rushing attempts for 175 yards and four touchdowns.
Speaking of Oxbow, the Olympians just missed out on the D-III playoffs, but quarterback Chase Lund was named to the All-Star roster.
The North leads the all-time series, 11-9, but the South has won the last two meetings, including a 39-35 victory last year at Castleton University’s Dave Wolk Stadium.
