LEBANON

Last year: Sixth out of 18 teams at the state meet.

League: NHIAA Division III

Returnees: Seniors — Zach Thornton, Ben Nelson, Jon Eylander, Abigail Stone; Juniors — Aero Buzby, Garret Rose, Nick Wolstenholm, Chris Kinne; Sophomores — Will Healy, Cole Ashline.

Newcomers: Sophomores — Riley Berry, Aiden Osmer, Alex Eastman, Charlie Clarke, Caleb Thornton — Freshmen: Gavin Gilson, Oden Mangani, Bennett Russell, Jack Hastings, Lilly Mekos, John Polk.

Outlook: The Raiders graduated four wrestlers who combined for 85 wins last season but return some top performers. Healy (106 pounds) and Kinne (285) were third in their respective weight classes at the state meet while Stone (126) was runner-up and Buzby was fourth at 138 pounds.

”We are a good mix of experience and new wrestlers,” said Wood, who started the program at the club level and has grown it since. “I think that we should improve throughout the season and at the end of the season compete with the rest of the teams at the top of Division II.”

Returnees: Seniors — Connor Hobbs, Sierra Gianini, Cam Jespersen-Pecor, Ben Poitras; Juniors — Ethan Lewis, Hunter Dworak, Austin Crowder, Angus Shampney; Sophomores — Paxten Roberts.

Newcomers: Seniors — Aina Oshiro, Caleb Kennedy; Juniors: Jesse Guay, Anthony Huscha; Sophomore — Dylan Colburn; Freshmen: Tristan Clack, Aiden Peck, Keano Gianini, Kayden Wilson, Jayden Mardin, Lindsey Stewart, Brendan Boisvert, Lincoln Butterfield, Landon Giovagnoli, Nathan McAndrew, Caleb Rostron.

Outlook: “We are predominantly a young team with a large group of freshmen and upper class newcomers,” said assistant Rick Simula. “We have a core group of returners who have been grinding all off-season.” Crowder was fourth in his weight class at last season’s weight class.

NEWPORT

Last year: Blake Ploss placed third in the Division III state meet

League: NHIAA Division III

Returnees: Sophomores - Blake Ploss, Taylor Davis.

Newcomers: Juniors — Hunter Austin; Sophomores — Cayden Decato, Caeden Gilman; Freshman — Brycen Flewelling.

Outlook: Sharron, a former state champion for Newport, inherits a young, rebuilding program. “There is a lot of talent coming up over the next few years from the youth program,” he said. “Our goal is  to have a head-to-head winning record as a te am and increase our ability to score bonus points in duals.”
