The best high school lacrosse players from the class of 2022 will once again descend upon Hanover High’s Merriman-Branch Field on Saturday for the annual Byrne Cup Twin State All-Star games.

Upper Valley athletes will be well-represented from both sides of the Connecticut River. For the New Hampshire boys, attacker Griffin Auch of Lebanon, midfielder Dylan Hendrick of Hanover and defender Colby Reed of Stevens are all on the squad, and Cardinals first-year head coach Harrison Urda is on the staff. Defender Clara Smyrski of Lebanon is the only local athlete on the New Hampshire girls roster.

Hartford, which won the VPA Division II girls state championship and lost the title game on the boys side, has no shortage of players participating. Goalie Tarin Prior and midfielder Gordon Willey will play in the boys’ game, alongside defender Evan Kurash and attacker Keaton Piconi of Woodstock. Midfielder Caroline Hamilton, goalie Sarah Howe and defender Abigail Vanderpot will represent the Hurricanes in the girls’ game.

New Hampshire won both games last year — a 19-5 victory for the Granite State girls and a 16-10 win for the boys. The opening draw for this year’s girls’ game is scheduled for 12:30, with the boys’ game to follow at 3 p.m.
