PLAINFIELD — The future of education was a point of contention during Saturday’s annual School District and Town meetings.

CROYDON — Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Croydon’s one-room school will be for preschool and kindergarten, and students in first grade and up will be tuitioned to other districts.

ORFORD — After more than two hours of debate, Rivendell voters approved a $15.8 million school budget, but defeated an article that would have moved future budget votes to an all-day Australian ballot format.

ENFIELD — Residents voted to switch to an Australian ballot style of voting for Town Meeting during the annual floor meeting Saturday.
NEW LONDON — During a floor meeting on Wednesday, voters rejected a $955,000 bond to continue planning for a new police facility on Seamans Road.
ORFORD — At a floor meeting Tuesday night, Orford voters directed the Selectboard to continue researching the proposed replacement of the High Bridge Road bridge to convert it into a walking bridge.
ORANGE — During a Tuesday evening floor meeting, voters approved all articles except for a petitioned article that would have designated the second floor of the Orange Town House as a mixed-use room to be shared by official town committees, boards and commissions subject to restrictions in the types of displays and items stored in the room, and a schedule maintained by the Selectboard secretary.
GRAFTON — In ballot voting on Tuesday, voters narrowly rejected, 106-103, a warrant article that would have changed the police chief position from elected to appointed by the Selectboard, effective next March.

GRANTHAM — Two Upper Valley towns supported petitioned warrant articles calling on legislators to stop any expansion of the state’s school voucher program in Town Meeting voting on Tuesday, while four more will decide before the end of the week.
SPRINGFIELD, N.H. — In ballot voting on Tuesday, Jennifer Roberts was elected to a three-year term on the Selectboard, beating out George McCusker, 184-33.
SUNAPEE — In ballot voting Tuesday, Sunapee voters rejected the proposed municipal budget of $11.03 million, 516-494.
CHARLESTOWN — In ballot voting on Tuesday, voters narrowly rejected, 285-261, a petitioned town article, not recommended by the Selectboard, that would have reduced the Selectboard to three members.
NEW LONDON — In ballot voting on Tuesday, James MacKenna earned a three-year term representing New London on the Kearsarge Regional School District Board.
DORCHESTER — At the polls on Tuesday, Sherman Hallock won a three-year term on the Selectboard in an uncontested race.
LYME — In ballot voting on Tuesday, voters rejected a proposed zoning warrant amendment would have excluded propane and natural gas tanks from a provision that outlaws underground fuel storage tanks, 204-80.
HAVERHILL — In a three-way contest for two three-year terms on the Selectboard, Theresa Paige and Vickie L. Wyman beat out Michael Small.
UNITY — In uncontested races, voters elected Garry Bator to the Selectboard and Shannon Popescu and Atonya Hart to the School Board.
CORNISH — At the polls on Tuesday, Keith Beardslee won a three-year term on the Selectboard, beating out Michael Belanger, 312-254.
NEWPORT — Residents approved a $22.15 million school operating budget during Australian ballot voting on the Newport School District warrant on Tuesday.
WEST CANAAN — Voters approved a $32.45 million operating budget during Australian ballot voting for the Mascoma Valley Regional School District Tuesday.
