GRANTHAM, NH — Suddenly, on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, Michael J. Palermo, age 50 of Grantham, left this world.

The comradery, friendship, laughter and light that Michael brought to so many lives will be dark for an infinite amount of time. His dedication to his family, friends and community were paramount to his life. His work ethic, kindness and spirit will never be replaced. Everyone was Michael's friend, he knew no strangers.

His time spent volunteering with the Grantham Fire Department & Ridge Fire Department were some of the highlights of his life. Michael's hobbies included hunting, gunsmithing, music, and camping. His zest for life was derived from humor, practical jokes, political debates, good old-fashioned family & friend time or a porch gathering. Additionally, he wrote a great column for First Responder where he had many readers and fans.

Michael worked at the Grantham Village School where he spent several years making good friends, enjoyed an abundance of humor and shared many family stories.

Michael is survived by his adoring wife, Leslie I. Palermo; Stepdaughter, Ashley Heath; Father, James Palermo; brothers Chris (Robin) Palermo and Steven Palermo; Father In Law, Rodman Pike; brother/sister in laws, family included; Ali & Tom Pitoscia, Eileen & Bill Durnin, and Brian & Robin Pike, and precious granddaughter, Miya Estey. Michael was predeceased by his loving mother, Sandra Palermo and his Uncle Sonny. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a heart-filled plenitude of friends.
