GLENDALE, Ariz. — Former Dartmouth College men’s hockey captain Lee Stempniak joined the front office of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes on Monday as the club’s new hockey data strategist.

In his new role, the 2005 Dartmouth graduate will use his economics major and hockey experience to assist in the communication between the Coyotes’ analytics department and coaches, players and management.

This isn’t Stempniak’s first time with the franchise. Of his 14-season, 911-game NHL career, the right winger played 100 games with the Coyotes, tallying a 33-23—56 scoring line.

He sits second all-time in games played at Dartmouth with 135. His 151 career points rank fourth in program history.

He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, making his debut in the 2006-07 season. Stempniak played for 10 different teams over his 14 years in the league, which is tied for the second-most in NHL history.

New compliance boss hired

HANOVER — Chelsea Goss has been named Dartmouth’s new associate athletic director of compliance, taking over for Tiffani Dawn-Sykes, who became the school’s senior associate athletic director for varsity sports and senior woman administrator in November.

Goss has spent the last two years in Burlington as an assistant athletic director for compliance at the University of Vermont. During her time there, she monitored personnel, amateurism, recruiting, athletic activities, eligibility and awards for 425 varsity athletes over 18 sports. Those duties grew over the past year with the COVID-19 pandemic as she provided counsel for the NCAA and America East.

“She is uniquely qualified to support the department in this role. We are looking forward to working with her as she shares her expertise with our department,” said Sykes, who headed the search committee to find her successor.
