PENACOOK, N.H. — The Bears rebounded from two consecutive defeats to get past the Pride in a defensive battle.

Hanover led by two at halftime and pulled away late, holding Merrimack Valley scoreless for the first six and a half minutes of the fourth quarter. Sydney McLaughlin led the Bears with 10 points, Claire Starosta added six and Amina Ajwang chipped in with four.

“Our defense continues to be excellent and has allowed us to be competitive in every game this season,” Hanover coach Dan O’Rourke said. “We’ll continue to work on the offensive end, and I fully expect us to become a stronger offensive team in the coming weeks.”

Hanover (6-4 overall, 5-2 NHIAA) is back in action Friday for its third game of the week, at home against Manchester West.
