WINDSOR — Sophomore Sophia Rockwood had 24 points, including 14 in the second quarter, to lead the Windsor High girls basketball team to a 56-31 win over White River Valley in a rematch of last year’s VPA Division III semifinals.

The Yellowjackets outscored the Wildcats, 18-2, in that second quarter.

Fellow sophomore Audrey Rupp and junior Sydney Perry had nine each for Windsor, and Perry had 21 rebounds. Junior Tanner Drury led WRV with 14.

“With our full court pressure, we gave them some problems, and we were able to get some transition buckets,” Yellowjackets coach Kabray Rockwood said. “I didn’t expect (a blowout), but obviously happy with the result.”

Windsor (4-2) travels to Springfield on Monday, while White River Valley (2-2) hosts Green Mountain on Tuesday.

Keene 43, Newport 28

LEBANON — The Tigers were down by 11 after one quarter, but tightened up their defense and got within a point, 24-23 in the third quarter before the Blackbirds went on a run to put the game away. The contest was part of the Lebanon Holiday Showcase.

Taylor Fellows had 19 for Newport and freshman Brooklyn Ranney added seven.

Newport (0-4) plays at rival Stevens on Tuesday. The Cardinals defeated the Tigers in Newport, 41-29, on Dec. 19.

Kearsarge 45, Lebanon 22

LEBANON — Tessa Hamilton's 14 points for the Cougars, who hit five 3-pointers in the game, were too much firepower for the Raiders in the Lebanon Holiday Showcase.

Kearsarge was up 22-10 and halftime then put the game away with a 21-point third quarter.

Drew Belk and Sara Kantor had five points each for Lebanon.

The Raiders (1-4) are at John Stark on Tuesday.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hurricanes built a 37-21 halftime lead and were never threatened after the break.

Hartford had points from 10 players, led by junior Brody Tyburski with 15 and Eyan Lynds and Christian Hathorn with 10 each. The game was Tyburski’s first since returning from a shoulder injury sustained during a football game on Oct. 7.

Hartford (4-1) is home against rival Woodstock on Wednesday.

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. — Kassidy Haley celebrated her birthday with a pair of goals and an assist, helping the defending VPA Division II champion Wasps improve to 4-1.
