WEST CANAAN — The Royals (0-1) fell to the Sabers in the first meet of the season, despite pins from Damian Nestle, Ethan Lewis and Nolan Rombow in the first round and Asa Michetti in the third round.

“While not quite a victory, we have a strong team moving forward and I look forward to seeing where they will go from here,” Mascoma first-year coach William Stone said.

The Royals head to Alvirne on Saturday morning for a meet that also includes Lebanon, Campbell and Pelham.
