LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Lebanon Post 22’s 9-1 loss in a New Hampshire American Legion baseball game to Londonderry Post 27 didn’t end up hurting coach Chauncey Wood’s squad as much as it could have.

Post 22 (4-9) is locked in a battle with Merrimack Post 98 (5-8) for the fourth and final District A spot in the New Hampshire state tournament, and every win in necessary in that pursuit. Fortunately for Lebanon, Merrimack lost earlier in the week as well to keep the gap at one game.

Londonderry (4-8), also on the outside of District B contention, held Post 22 to just two hits in Tuesday’s date at Londonderry High. Nick Brill walked twice and scored Lebanon’s only run. Shea Curley had a 1-for-2 night for Post 22, and pitcher Owen Aubin took the loss with four innings of seven-hit work on the mound.

“Too many errors and falling behind in the count,” Wood noted. “We have to get ahead of hitters and make the plays when we have the opportunities. They pitched well, and we struggled at the plate.”

Post 22 visits Dover Post 8 on Saturday morning.
