WESTMINSTER, Vt. — Dylan Hodgdon scored twice to help the Windsor High boys soccer team earn its first win of the season, a 3-0 win at rival Bellows Falls on Friday afternoon.
Kaleb Swett added a goal for the Yellowjackets (1-2-0). Andrew Kelly-Jacobs had a pair of assists and Conner Allen had one assist.
“We were hoping it would be a good game to get things started for us,” second-year Windsor coach Steve Mulloy said. “We eventually did what we needed to do. It’s a good way to get us ready looking forward to next week and the rest of the season.
Starting goalkeeper Eli Milligan and reserve Jacob Singelais combined for eight saves to anchor Windsor’s defensive effort. The Yellowjackets will open the Josh Cole tournament at Black River on Friday.
WELLS RIVER, Vt. — The shorthanded Eagles lost a hard-fought battle with the Bucks, falling to 0-2-0 on the season.
“It was good. We played hard all the way through, which was good to see with only two subs available,” Eagles coach Zach Bryan said.
Blue Mountain scored in the second minute but MVCS answered six minutes later on a Will Scalese goal to tie it up. Elliot Renninger assisted.
Keeper Stan Nelson made six saves for the Eagles, who play at Long Trail on Friday.
PETERBOROUGH, N.H. — The Raiders (2-1-0) lost a thriller in double overtime after just missing a game-winner in the first OT when Tyler St. Martin clanged a shot off the right goalpost.
Lebanon took the lead in the 43rd minute when Ben Tichner’s blast from 30 yards out slipped through the Con-Val keeper’s hands and into the upper-right corner of the goal. The Cougars would score an equalizer in the 76th minute.
St. Martin’s shot in the first OT hit the right post and was then cleared away by a defender. Lebanon keeper Ryan Tanski made three saves.
The Raiders host Coe-Brown on Thursday.
DORSET, Vt. — Morgan McKeen and Elliot Rupp each had three points to lead the Yellowjackets to their first win of the season.
McKeen had two goals and one assist, and Rupp scored once and had two assists. Holly Putnam and Olivia Rockwood also scored for the Jacks. Netminder Adi Prior made two saves for the shutout.
“It was a great all-around team performance, great to see them put it all together,” Windsor coach Jeff Bachey said.
The Jacks (1-1-1) will host Green Mountain for their home opener on Friday.
LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — Makayla Simmons scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute, converting on a feed from Chloe McIntire for the Olympians.
Coach Dan Thomas praised the defensive effort of Emma Parkin along with the work of forwards Melanie Neil and Aspen Longmoore. The Olympians had the better of the play for long stretches, just missing several other good scoring chances.
Oxbow (1-1-0) hosts Northfield on Wednesday.
RUTLAND — The Howe sisters combined for five goals in a shutout win over the Mounties.
Sarah Howe had three goals, and sister Sophie Howe added two. Grace Lafromboise added a goal for WRV. Blake Southworth and Hannah White each had one assist. The Wildcats didn’t surrender a shot on goal, but keepers Fiona Vaillancourt and Ellie Prestridge played well to anchor the defense.
WRV (2-0-0) hosts Green Mountain on Tuesday.
SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — A goal on the cusp of halftime proved the difference as the Cosmos topped the Hurricanes (1-1-0) at Brown Memorial Field.
Springfield owned a 2-0 lead at the break thanks to its last-second strike before the interval. Reilly Slusser finished a Nora Knudsen pass in the 58th minute to pull Hartford within a goal, but the Canes couldn’t generate another good enough scoring opportunity to level the match, Hartford coach Jeff Acker said.
Erin Thompson stopped seven shots for the Canes, who visit Brattleboro on Tuesday night.
WEST CANAAN — The defending NHIAA Division III champions endured a scare before scoring three times during a 15-minute stretch of the second half and improving to 2-0-0.
Mascoma’s MacKenzie Labrie opened the scoring during the sixth minute with an assist from Michaela Dowd. Berlin answered fewer than two minutes later and kept the Royals pinned in their end for a 15-minute stretch that overlapped halftime.
“We weren’t beating them to any loose balls and we were trying to go through the middle, so their defense collapsed on us,” Mascoma coach Jenn Hammond said of her team’s struggles. “I called a timeout, and the girls got mad when I said they were losing their composure and not playing the way they can, but we have that senior leadership that can bring us through difficult times in a game.”
The Royals’ Nicole Williams notched the winning goal off a Sophie Guziewicz pass during the second half’s 11th minute. Labrie scored with five minutes remaining, and Wilson struck a minute later, both on unassisted plays. Emily Conrad made two saves for Mascoma, which visits Hopkinton on Tuesday.
WESTMINSTER, Vt. — The Hurricanes scored all four of their goals in the second half to hand the Terriers a shutout loss.
Kennedy Mullen put Hartford on the board two minutes into the second half, scoring with an assist to Daisy Phelps.
Elsie Davis added a goal two minutes later for some breathing room. Phelps finished with a goal and two assists. Mullen led the way with two goals and one assist. Greer McCarty had one helper.
“It was a really fast-paced game. I’m just thrilled we played so well; it was really a team win. Everybody went the hard miles, dug it out and worked together,” Hartford coach Heather Scudder said.
Goalie Bailey Cameron stopped a penalty stroke in the final minutes to preserve the shutout and finished with 13 saves. Hartford (3-0) hosts Brattleboro on Monday.
WEST CANAAN — The Royals (1-0) kicked off the new campaign by blanking the Cardinals (0-1) at home.
Mascoma coach Eric Ramage cited senior Laura Henry as the Royals’ player of the night. Henry led the offense with several kills, was solid with her passing game and led from the service line. Renee French, Lindsay McDonald, Kira Emery, Jadyn Bates and Rhiana DeCosta also had strong games, according to Ramage.
Mascoma is off until a Friday visit to Trinity.
MANCHESTER — The Marauders finished two shots behind Pinkerton to take second place in a nine-hole match at Derryfield Country Club.
Natalie Morhun and Spencer Lawe each shot 2-over-par rounds of 36 to lead Hanover. Jack Meehan added a 37. Patrick Daley and Justin Alderdice each shot 40.
Pinkerton’s Nick Tufts had the best round of the day, shooting 35.

WINDSOR — Hartford’s Brady Hathorn shot a 1-over par round of 35 at John P. Larkin Country Club to lead the Hurricanes to a 34-stroke victory over Woodstock.
Matt Roberts added a personal-best 39 for the Canes. Joey Barwood had 41 and Jared Vanderpot shot 45. Carl Gebhardt led Woodstock with 46, followed by Ethan Dean (48), Will Duane (50) and Emily Dean (50).
Host Windsor had a pair of individual golfers; Dylan DeSchamp shot 41 and Liam Attwood shot 57.
Windsor and Hartford will visit Woodstock on Wednesday.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The Big Green opened the UNC Asheville Invitational, and its regular season, with a 25-18, 25-21, 26-24 shutout of North Carolina A&T.
Freshman Makenzie Arent had 31 assists, eight digs and four kills to star for Dartmouth in her first varsity match. Sophomore Nicole Liddle had 13 digs and six kills, and junior Elise Petit had a team-best nine kills.
The Big Green plays twice on Saturday, meeting Eastern Kentucky at 10:30 a.m. and host UNC Asheville at 6:30 p.m.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Julian McMaster’s second goal of the night broke a 1-1 tie and sent the top-ranked Demon Deacons past the Big Green in Dartmouth’s season opener.
McMaster opened the scoring in the fifth minute only to have the visitors fight back for a draw. David Alino converted passes from Tiger Graham and Matthew Ranieri in the 29th minute to bring the Big Green level.
McMaster broke the deadlock just past the hour mark for Wake. Alistair Johnson added a clincher in the 83rd minute.
Dartmouth goalkeeper Alex Budnik made three saves. The Big Green is off until its home opener with UMass on Tuesday.
BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Big Green (2-1-0) suffered their first loss of the season, falling at the Owls.
Florida Atlantic’s Pernille Velta scored in the 72nd minute for the game’s only goal. The Owls outshot Dartmouth, 12-2 and had six corners to none for the Big Green.
Dartmouth will remain in the Sunshine State to battle Florida International on Sunday at noon.
DEDHAM, Mass. — The Big Green were outclassed by the host Huskies at Dedham Field.
Northeastern built a 4-0 lead at halftime and then added three goals in the third quarter. Dartmouth got on the board in the fourth on a goal by Carmen Braceras. Tatum Schultz assisted. The Huskies outshot the Big Green, 26-4.
Dartmouth (0-1) hosts UMass on Sunday at 1 p.m.
