HANOVER — With rain in the forecast for this weekend, Dartmouth College has adjusted the schedule for this weekend’s home openers for the Big Green softball team.
All games of the scheduled set with Penn at Dartmouth Softball Park have been moved up 24 hours. The Big Green and Quakers will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 2 p.m., with a single game on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Dartmouth enters its first home games of the campaign at 3-17 overall and 0-3 in league play, having been swept at Columbia last weekend in New York.
H.S. BASKETBALLOlson leaving KUAMERIDEN — Mike Olson will step down as coach of Kimball Union Academy’s boys basketball program at the conclusion of the current academic year.
The prep school announced Olson’s departure in a news release this week. Olson recorded a 156-106 record over 10 seasons at KUA. Last winter’s team went 9-10 and missed the NEPSAC postseason.
Olson coached for more than 30 years at the collegiate level before coming to Meriden, winning more than 500 games, according to the school.
NECBL BASEBALLNighthawks seeking host familiesWHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Upper Valley Nighthawks are in need of families to host players for this summer’s New England Collegiate Baseball League campaign.
Host family responsibilities include providing a clean bedroom and bathroom; having access to internet and laundry; and providing snacks, breakfasts and the occasional dinner. Players are fed by the team after games.
Athletes arrive in early June and stay for around 10 weeks, through the beginning of August. All home games are staged at the Maxfield Sports Complex in White River Junction.
Host families receive free season tickets in exchange for opening their homes to players from around the country, many of whom are visiting New England for the first time.
