LEBANON — Rescuers pulled the body of a missing Lebanon woman from the Connecticut River on Sunday afternoon, after authorities had issued an alert asking for assistance finding her earlier in the day.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., a fisherman told authorities he saw something along the Connecticut River near the water treatment facility on South Main Street, according to a Sunday evening news release from Lebanon police.

The New Hampshire State Police helicopter unit tracked the sighting and the Lebanon Fire and Police departments confirmed it was the body of Mardrey Swenson, 76, who was last seen around 2:30 a.m. near her residence in the area of 15 Oak Ridge Road off Route 10 in West Lebanon. Rescue personnel brought her to shore at 2:42 p.m.

Police had issued an alert earlier in the day for Swenson, who suffered from dementia.

Her husband had notified police when he noticed she was gone in the early morning hours. After two of hours of searching, Lebanon Police sought assistance from other agencies.

The Lebanon Fire Department and volunteers from Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team, New England K-9, the New Hampshire State Helicopter Unit, and conservation officers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department responded to assist. Members of the community, including neighbors, also came together to help in the search.
