WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT — Lawrence Erton Tulip Jr., “Larry”, 63, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after succumbing to end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Larry was born July 19, 1956 in Windsor, VT, the son of Lawrence Erton Tulip Sr. and Lillian Verna (Durden) Dow. Larry went to schools in Sutton, Windsor and Hartford Vermont. Larry then enlisted in the Navy, after a brief service he received an honorable discharge. After the Navy Larry returned to the Upper Valley. Larry enjoyed working with his hands and worked in the building trades, automotive repair, and landscaping, ultimately earning a reputation as a dependable handyman and jack of all trades. Larry was also a notable outdoorsman who loved biking, skiing, camping, fishing and hunting among other hobbies. He was known to be boisterous and opinionated, “You don’t want to mess with Larry!” Larry was predeceased by his birth parents Lawrence Tulip Sr. and Lillian Dow, his step-father Walter Dow, and his sister Deborah Hanecak. Larry is survived by his son Matthew Gilbert and his daughter Lia Aiello Reilly, Lia’s three children Nathan, Quinn, and Lilliana Reilly of North Brookfield, MA, Matthew’s wife Teal Miller and their three daughters Maya, Lily, and Eden Miller of Summerville, SC, his sister Lois Ellison of Windsor, VT, his step-mother Betty Tulip of White River Junction, VT, his three step-sisters Valleri Adams, Vanessa Powers and Veronica DeFord, his brother-in-law Rudolph Hanecak Jr., his aunt Patricia Boucot of Batesville, MS, and his uncle Donald Jenness of Newport, VT. Memorial services and burial will be held at South Barton Cemetery in Barton, VT in July 2019, exact date and time will be available through Knight Funeral Home online obituaries page in the near future.
