TUCSON, AZ — Dorothea (Bea) Tuxbury passed away on Monday, September 24th surrounded by family. She was 80.

Bea grew up in Denville, NJ and attended Drew University earning a degree in English Literature with post-graduate work in education and a teacher’s certification. She worked in publishing and taught in elementary schools for several years before leaving teaching to become a full-time homemaker. She raised three children, was certified as a Master Gardener (NH), and was active in The Girl Scouts of America for over 20 years. During her time in the Upper Valley, she was member and volunteer at the White River Junction Food Co-op and a member of the American Dowser’s Society. After she and her husband retired to Tucson, Arizona, she completed coursework for her Master Gardener’s certification (AZ) and volunteered at the Tohono Chul propogation unit for several years. She served on the social and landscaping committees in her retirement community and was a unit representative. Throughout her life, her family was her greatest passion and she threw herself into a wide variety of pursuits as she helped her children and grandchildren find theirs. Her efforts led to a life filled with laughter and love.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Tuxbury, of Tucson AZ, three children - Catherine Tuxbury of Oswego NY, Barbara (Todd) Ossege of Apalachin NY, and Robert (Danica) Tuxbury of Phoenix AZ, and five grandchildren - Kristen Tuxbury, Roxanne Baker, Cam Ossege, Katelynn Ossege, and Aleczandr Tuxbury.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27th at 2pm at the Hanover Center Cemetery in Etna, NH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Girls Scouts of the USA.
