HANOVER — Ryan Cornish’s 18 points helped Dartmouth defeat Brown 78-58 on Saturday, a victory that secured the Big Green’s first invitation to the Ivy League’s postseason tournament.

Fresh off of a 28-point performance in a 72-67 loss to Yale on Friday night, Cornish shot 5-of-12 from the field, including 2-for-5 from 3-point range, and went 6-for-6 from the line for the Big Green (14-12, 8-5 Ivy League). Brandon Mitchell-Day scored 15 points, and Connor Amundsen finished with 12 points.

The Bears (14-12, 6-7) were led by Landon Lewis, who recorded 22 points and seven rebounds.

Mitchell-Day kept the Big Green in Friday’s game against the Ivy frontrunners with 22 points. Jackson Munro finished with 10 points for Dartmouth, which held a 35-29 lead at the half. Yale used a 10-point run early in the second half to forge a 41-41 tie, following that with a six-point burst for a 47-44 edge. The Bulldogs never trailed the remainder of the night.

Ivy Madness is set for Brown University in two weeks. Dartmouth last earned a postseason berth when it played in the Collegeinsider.com Tournament (CIT) 10 years ago.

Both teams wrap up their regular seasons on Saturday. Dartmouth visits Harvard, and Brown hosts Yale.

Harvard 74, Yale 69

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Chandler Pigge had 13 points in Harvard’s win over Yale, denying the Bulldogs’ efforts for an undefeated Ivy League regular season.

Pigge added seven rebounds for the Crimson (11-15, 6-7 Ivy League). Evan Nelson finished with 12 points, and Louis Lesmond had 11.

Bez Mbeng led the Bulldogs (19-7, 12-1) in scoring, finishing with 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Nick Townsend added 18 points, seven rebounds and two steals for Yale. John Poulakidas also put up 12 points.

The loss broke the Bulldogs’ 13-game winning streak, but Yale will stlll be the top seed at Ivy Madness..

Penn 92, Columbia 87

NEW YORK — Sam Brown put up 42 points as Pennsylvania beat Columbia.

It was the fourth 40-point game in school history and the most points scored by a Quaker in a game since 1989. Brown was five shy of the school record.

Brown shot 14-for-20 (4-for-6 from 3-point range) and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line for the Quakers (8-18, 4-9 Ivy League). Nick Spinoso scored 16 points with seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Ethan Roberts added 13 points for the Quakers.

Kenny Noland led the Lions (12-14, 1-12) in scoring, finishing with 21 points. Columbia also got 18 points and 12 rebounds from Blair Thompson. Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa had 13 points. The loss was the Lions’ sixth straight.

AMERICA EAST Vermont 79, UMBC 69

BALTIMORE — TJ Hurley had 23 points in Vermont’s victory over UMBCto remain a game back of Bryant in the America East Conference with one game left in the regular season.

Hurley also contributed six rebounds for the Catamounts (19-11, 12-3). Sam Alamutu added 12 points, and Ileri Ayo-Faleye contributed 11 points and nine rebounds. It was the eighth victory in a row for the Catamounts.

Marcus Banks led the way for the Retrievers (13-18, 5-11) with 21 points.

Vermont hosts Albany on Tuesday. UMBC has concluded its regular season and will be the No. 8 seed into the conference tournament.
