HANOVER — After having its match last weekend cancelled, the Dartmouth College men’s tennis team made the most of its long pandemic-delayed return to action with a 5-2 defeat of Williams on Saturday at the Thompson Courts.

The Big Green (1-0) earned the doubles point, winning all three matches. Senior Dan Martin earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 to get singles going. Senior Casey Ross at No. 5 and freshman Logan Chang at No. 6 also posted straight-sets wins to secure the team victory. Chang, Ross and Martin all participated in Dartmouth’s doubles sweep as well.

Junior Sid Chari earned the Big Green’s other point with a three-set win at fourth singles, taking the tiebreak, 10-6.

WOMEN’S CREWGreen ends long hiatus

BOSTON — The Big Green women’s crew team put three boats into the windy, chilly Charles River in coach Nancy LaRocque’s debut as coach at the Charles River Basin Racing Series.

The series started in March and is hosted by Boston College. It includes a number of different schools each time around, with UMass and Boston University joining the Big Green and Eagles on Saturday.

Dartmouth’s varsity eight was third in its race, following BU and UMass. The second varsity trailed only BU in its event, and the third varsity won by nearly 12 seconds.
