HANOVER — The Dartmouth men’s and women’s track and field teams put on a show in the first home meet of the season with each team picking up victories at Leverone Field House on Saturday.

Folasade Akinfe sparked the women, winning the 200-meter dash in 25.85 seconds. Isabelle Giordano (800 meters) and Annalisa Crowe (1,000 meters) also won. Anya Hirschfeld won the mile in 5:13.11.

The Big Green added four victories in field events with Zoe Dainton winning the high jump, Julia Valenti claiming the pole vault, Cha’Mia Rothwell ruling the long jump and Jamie Tatum taking the shot put title.

Sprinter Donovan Spearman won the 60-meter dash for the Dartmouth men in 6.81 seconds. Myles Epstein won the 200-meter dash in 22.19 seconds. Max Frye added a win in the 500 meters, Tim Zepf in the 1,000 meters and Thomas Lingard won the mile.

Women’s team scores: Dartmouth 185, Maine 131, Vermont 122.

Men’s team scores: Dartmouth 163, Vermont 146, Maine 131, New Hampshire 28.

BOSTON — The Big Green fought back from an early 3-0 deficit but fell at the Huskies in wild back-and-forth game.

No. 12-ranked Northeastern scored three goals in the first period to lead early. Dartmouth answered with three straight of their own in the first nine minutes of the second period. The Huskies wasted no time taking back the momentum, capping a wild second period with three more goals to lead, 6-3, into the third.

Jeff Losurdo, Daniel Warpecha and Sam Hesler all scored for the Big Green in the second. Ryan Blankemeier added a goal midway through the third period.

Dartmouth goalie Adrian Clark made 24 saves. The Big Green (4-4-2, 4-2-1 ECAC) is off until it hosts the Ledyard Classic at Thompson Arena in late December.

MEN’S BASKETBALL BU 78, Dartmouth 76

BOSTON (AP) — Walter Whyte had 17 points to lead five Boston University players in double figures as the Terriers narrowly beat the Big Green to end a five-game skid.

Max Mahoney added 16 points, Javante McCoy chipped in 14 with eight assists, Jonas Harper scored 12 points and Alex Vilarino had 10 for the Terriers (4-7).

Dartmouth closed to 77-76 on Taurus Samuels’ layup with six seconds to go, but McCoy made one of two free throws to ice it.

Samuels scored a career-high 22 points for the Big Green (6-5). James Foye added 17 points and Chris Knight had 11.

Dartmouth matches up against Central Connecticut at home on Wednesday.
