NORTH EASTON, Mass. — Playing its first game in 20 days, the Dartmouth College women’s ice hockey team came from behind to earn a 3-2 victory at Stonehill on Friday. Senior captain Currie Putrah notched the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining.

Senior CC Bowlby opened the scoring for the Big Green on a power play midway through the first period, with an assist from junior Annie King, but the Skyhawks struck back with a power play goal of their own barely a minute later. Just 66 seconds after that, Stonehill took the lead on a shorthanded goal.

Freshman Cally Dixon pulled Dartmouth even in the second, assisted by junior Abby Grexton and senior Sydney Herrington. The game remained tied until freshman Vanessa Stamper found an open Putrah in front of the net, and Putrah one-timed it home. Sophomore Maggie Emerson made 17 saves in the win.

“It was a fresh start for us. I think it’s a reset button,” Putrah said. “We can reflect on how the first half of the season went, learn from our mistakes and build each other up moving forward. We have a lot of momentum now, and I think the energy is good. Everyone is fresh, and I think that’s going to be very important for us when we get back into conference play.”

The Big Green (5-11-0, 1-8-0 ECAC Hockey) resume conference action this weekend, traveling to Princeton on Friday and Quinnipiac on Saturday.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY Dartmouth splits at Ledyard Classic

HANOVER — The Big Green fell to No. 6 Merrimack in overtime, 3-2, in Friday’s Ledyard Classic opener at Thompson Arena, then defeated ECAC Hockey foe Yale, 4-3, in the consolation game Saturday.

Dartmouth struck first against the Warriors, with senior Tyler Campbell setting up fellow senior Tanner Palocsik for the opening goal five minutes in. Merrimack scored twice within 45 seconds to take the lead, but junior Joey Musa fed Campbell for a second Big Green goal late in the first period.

The 2-2 tie would hold throughout the second and third before the Warriors’ Ben Brar beat Dartmouth freshman goaltender Cooper Black in the extra session. Black made 24 saves.

Saturday’s tilt with the Bulldogs also featured a high-scoring first period. The Big Green again struck first, this time on a power-play goal by sophomore Matt Hubbarde, with assists from fellow sophomores Braiden Dorfman and John Fusco. Yale evened things five minutes later before Dorfman put Dartmouth back on top with an unassisted goal. The Bulldogs’ Bayard Hall had an answer, forging a 2-2 tie after the opening 20 minutes. Sophomore Nate Morgan’s shorthanded goal gave the Big Green a third one-goal lead in the second, and again Yale had a response, sending the game to the third knotted 3-3. Campbell’s third-period goal, assisted by Palocsik, was the difference.

Dartmouth (2-11-1, 1-5-1 ECAC Hockey) hits the road this week, heading to Quinnipiac on Friday night and Princeton the following evening.
