PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Anna Luce scored 22 points and Paula Lenart pulled down 17 rebounds as the Dartmouth College women’s basketball team defeated Brown, 81-61, on Friday night at Pizzitola Sports Center. for its first Ivy League win of the season.
Lenard added 14 points for the Big Green (8-8, 1-2 Ivy), which trailed at the half, 36-35, before pulling away with a 24-7 fourth quarter.
Isalys Quinones scored 13 points and Cy Lippold 12 points with seven assists for Dartmouth, and Elle Louie had 10 rebounds and five assists.
Shayna Metha led Brown with 17 points.
Dartmouth returns to action tonight at Yale.
HANOVER — Dartmouth senior Guilien Smith launched a 3-pointer in the waning seconds that only drew iron as visiting Brown (13-6, 1-2 Ivy) picked up its first Ivy League victory of the season at Leede Arena.
Obi Okolie led the Bears (13-6, 1-2 Ivy) with 15 points, while sophomore Chris Knight had 15 for the Big Green (10-9, 1-2 Ivy) as well.
Aaryn Rai added 10 points for Dartmouth, and Ian Sistare pulled down five rebounds.
The Big Green hosts Yale (12-4, 2-1) tonight.
HANOVER — Five different Dartmouth players scored as the Big Green (4-17-1, 3-12-0 ECAC) defeated Brown (5-15-2, 2-11-2).
Christina Rombaut, Lotti Odnoga, Jennifer Costa, Alyssa Baker and Tess Bracken scored for Dartmouth, with Rombaut and Odnoga adding a pair of assists each.
Christine Honor made 33 saves for the Big Green, while Brown’s Hayley Kliczko and Calla Isaac combined for 29 stops.
Dartmouth greets Yale today.
STOWE, Vt. — Sophomore Drew Duffy continued his dominance on the slopes, winning his fourth race out of five thus far this season as Dartmouth concluded the first day of skiing at the Vermont Carnival in second place behind the host Catamounts, 517-467.
Duffy edged out Vermont’s Max Roeisland by 0.09 seconds with a combined time of 2:04.84 at Mount Mansfield, but the Catamounts won the event by a single point, 119-118. Kipling Weisel (fifth, 2:05.73) and James Ferri (11th, 2:07.22) contributed to the Big Green’s total.
The Catamounts swept the podium in the women’s slalom, while Dartmouth was led by Claire Thomas in fourth (2:11.84).
In the Nordic races at the Trapp Family Lodge, the Dartmouth women won the 5-kilometer freestyle, led by winner Emily Hyde (15:15.1) and Molly Gellert (third, 15:18.2). Adam Glueck led the men (fifth, 27:29.6).
The carnival will conclude on Saturday with the slalom and the mass classic races — 15K for the women, 20K for the men.
HANOVER — Dartmouth fell to Columbia, at Karl Michael Pool in a meet highlighted by Justin Sodokoff breaking the pool record on the 1-meter diving board (357.82 points) that had held since 2007.
Connor LaMastra won the 200-yard fly and Joe Moll won the 200 free for the Big Green, out-finishing Zachary Pear by just over half a second.
Dartmouth is done with dual meets and will have over three weeks until the Ivy League Championships, which will take place on Feb. 27-March 2 at Brown.
BOSTON — No. 19 Harvard scored three goals in the third period to come away from the ECAC Hockey contest with a win over Dartmouth.
Senior defenseman Connor Yau scored the lone goal for the Big Green (8-11-2, 7-6-1 ECAC). Lewis Zerter-Gossage netted a pair of tallies for the home team, including an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the win for the Crimson (11-6-3, 8-5-2 ECAC).
Dartmouth had its chances, including a five-minute power play, but were unable to find a scoring solution beyond Yau’s second of the season at 11:06 of the opening period.
With the win, Harvard earned a season split with its Hanover counterpart after Dartmouth won the season opener in overtime, 7-6, back on Oct. 27.
The Big Green are back home next weekend against Rensselaer and Union at Thompson Arena.
