WOODSTOCK — The annual Woodstock Flurry: Vermont Snow Sculpture Festival & Competition, scheduled to take place from Friday to Sunday on the Woodstock Green, has been canceled due to a lack of snow for the second year in a row.

“We were really excited about it, but there isn’t enough snow on the green and we don’t have the resources to truck it in and have it set up in time for this weekend,” said Marie Cross, marketing & communications director at ArtisTree, which is the main sponsor for the event.

Seven teams had been signed up to compete. They would each need an 8-foot tall, 6-foot wide block of snow.

“We are exploring options to have this utilize man-made snow for next year’s event so we don’t have to depend on Mother Nature to come through for us,” Cross said.
