BRIDGEWATER — A Woodstock police officer has been placed on paid leave following his arrest on a drunk driving charge after state troopers responded to a “domestic disturbance” in Bridgewater Corners on March 2.

Kaleb McIntire, 33, was charged with one count of DUI after Vermont State Police said they were called at 10:54 p.m. to a residence on Braley Hill Road in Bridgewater Corners in response to a report of a domestic disturbance, VSP said in a news release.

When troopers arrived and investigated they found McIntire and John Luce, 54, also of Bridgewater Corners, “had both been operating separate vehicles while intoxicated,” according to VSP. Luce was also charged with one count of DUI.

McIntire, who joined the Woodstock Police Department in 2020, “will remain on leave pending the outcome of the criminal case as well as a subsequent internal affairs investigation,” Woodstock Police Chief Robbie Blish said in a statement.

Blish stated that the department is “committed to supporting Vermont State Police’s investigation to the fullest extent needed, and will likewise thoroughly review this matter.”

McIntire and Luce were released on criminal citations to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division to answer to the charge, but as of Monday no arraignment date had yet appeared on the court calendar.
