HARTLAND — A Windsor man who was wanted on an arrest warrant after he failed to appear for his jury trial on a charge of attempted sexual assault of a minor was apprehended during a motor vehicle stop on Route 5 in Hartland, Vermont State Police reported.

Andrew Snide, 43, was arrested on an extradition warrant out of New Hampshire after Vermont troopers stopped his vehicle for an alleged motor vehicle violation on Route 5 at around 11 p.m. on Sunday, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Snide earlier this month after he failed to appear at jury selection for his scheduled two-day trial in Grafton County Superior Court on April 1, according to court records.

Snide is charged with two felony counts of attempted sexual assault against a minor and one count of a computer-related crime during a police sting operation in 2020. He is he alleged to have sent sexually explicit messages and attempted to meet for sex with an investigator posing online as a juvenile female, according to police.

Lebanon police arrested Snide at a grocery store on Route 12A in West Lebanon where he had gone in belief that he was meeting up with the girl for sex, police said.
