WOODSTOCK — After almost a year of deliberation, the Windsor Central Supervisory Union has settled on a new name for the district.

Beginning July 1, 2023, the seven-town school district will be called the Mountain Views Unified Union School District (MVUUSD).

Surveys sent out to students and community members in Barnard, Bridgewater, Killington, Plymouth, Pomfret, Reading and Woodstock by the WCSU’s Configuration and Enrollment Working Group polled respondents on options for a new name, as well as their attitudes toward changing the name at all.

After deciding to change the name on Nov. 30, the WCSU Board unanimously settled on “Mountain Views” at a meeting on Monday. The name trumped two other finalists: “Riverbank” and “Calvin Coolidge.”
