TUNBRIDGE — The Williamstown, Vt., town manager has been cited into court on charges of driving under the influence and providing false information to a law enforcement officer following a motor vehicle crash in Tunbridge on Thursday.

Police say Jacqueline M. Higgins, 57, of Tunbridge, crashed a Ford F-150 truck on Whitney Hill Road in Tunbridge around 10 p.m. While speaking with her, troopers said they observed signs of impairment, according to a news release.

Higgins allegedly failed sobriety tests and was arrested, the release said.

Higgins is the town manager in Williamstown. Messages left for her weren’t returned on Friday. A town hall employee said Higgins wasn’t working Friday, but would be in the office next week.

Higgins served as collector of delinquent taxes in Tunbridge but lost her seat to Joseph Paquin at Town Meeting in 2018 in a 68-21 vote. She also held the post of administrative assistant to the Selectboard in Tunbridge.

Higgins is slated to appear in Orange Superior Court in Chelsea on Aug. 28.
