Annual meeting preview: No one files for Bethel seat on White River Valley Unified School District Board

Article of note: From the floor, voters will be asked whether to put part of an audited fund balance, not to exceed $998,000 into a capital improvements and maintenance of facilities fund.

Contested races: Peggy Ainsworth is running unopposed for a three-year term representing Royalton on the School Board. Meanwhile, no one filed to run for a three-year term representing Bethel on the Board.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed budget is $14.38 million, which is estimated to result in education spending of $11,950 per equalized pupil. The proposal is up from last year’s of $12.97 million.

When, where and how to vote: The in-person annual meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, March 4 at 6 p.m. Ballot voting for officers is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5. Polls in Bethel at the elementary school, 273 Pleasant Street, will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Polls at the Royalton campus, 223 South Windsor Street, will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
