School budget for White River district approved

SOUTH ROYALTON — Voters in Royalton and Bethel approved the school budget for their shared White River Unified District and elected a write-in candidate for one of two open School Board seats in Australian ballot voting on Tuesday. 

Shannon Morrill-Cornelius won a three-year post representing Bethel on the School Board with 92 write-in votes. There was no winner for an open three-year position representing Royalton. No one had filed to run for either seat.

Voters approved a budget of $12.03 million by a vote of 414-161. 

They also set salaries for the year at $600 per member for school district officers and $1,050 for the school district treasurer.
