Wells River to Update Residents on Progress Combating Opioid Crisis

Friday, November 10, 2017

Wells River — Officials in Wells River will hold a meeting on Thursday to update the community on the progress made since residents shared their concerns last year about the use of illegal drugs in the village.

A panel comprising law enforcement officers, health professionals and others with a stake in combating the Opioid crisis will address those in attendance on the progress, according to a news release issued on Thursday.

Residents also will be given an opportunity to speak at the event titled: “Wells River Community Meeting; Drugs Are Still Here!”

One year ago this month, residents gathered in the village to discuss the topic and brainstorm ideas of what could be done to combat the epidemic. The discussion came on the heels of two suspected overdose deaths.

The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wells River Village Garage on Creamery Street.
