Weathersfield Town Meeting preview

Contested races: Two people are vying for a three-year position on the Selectboard: deForest Bearse and August Murray.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed municipal general fund budget is $1.89 million, of which $1.5 million is to come from taxes. The proposed highway fund budget is $1.28 million, of which $999,000 is to come from taxes. Last year, voters approved a $1.75 million operating budget and a $1.19 million highway budget. The proposed school budget is $8.89 million, up from last year’s budget of $8.4 million.

When, where and how to vote: The annual school meeting will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at the Weathersfield School, 135 Schoolhouse Road in Ascutney. Town Meeting will be held in the same place, or virtually, at 12:30 p.m. that day. Ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 4, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Martin Memorial Hall, 5259 US Route 5, Ascutney.
