Bridgewater, Vt. — Warren John Blanchard, Sr., 84, of Bridgewater, died Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Genesis Healthcare Facility in Rutland, Vt. 

Warren was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Woodstock, Vt., the son of Wilber A. and Agnes (Merriam) Blanchard. He married Mary Ann Belisle on May 24, 1956.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. He later worked for a number of woolen mills throughout the State of Vermont including the Bridgewater Woolen Mill and the Jewel Brook Woolen Mill in Ludlow, Vt. In his later years he worked as the custodian for the Bridgewater Village School. Warren enjoyed helping others in the community, being outside, especially at his camp in Chateaguay and spending time with his family. He was loved and respected by everyone that knew him and will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary A. (Belisle) Blanchard; one sister, Nellie (Blanchard) Prouty of Rutland; six children, Andy Blanchard of Mendon, Vt., Brian Blanchard of Bridgewater, Karen (Blanchard) Bixby of North Clarendon, Vt., Warren Blanchard, Jr. of Bridgewater, James Blanchard of Plymouth, Vt., and Laurie (Blanchard) Sanderson of Bridgewater Ctr.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

There will be no calling hours. There will be a graveside service at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life gathering at Warren Blanchard, Jr.’s camp in Bridgewater Chateaguay.
