NORTH HAVERHILL — In voting on Tuesday, the longtime Grafton County register of deeds fended off a challenge to earn the Democratic nomination to keep her spot.

Kelley Monahan, an Orford resident who has been register of deeds since 2011, earned 4,468 votes, while challenger Terri Grimes earned 4,069.

In November’s general election, Monahan will face Daniel Werman, of Campton, N.H., who was unopposed in Tuesday’s Republican primary.
